I will never forget the day we met on the first day of school
At the innocent age of 3
A room so big, so many strange faces.
Sitting in a corner crying to myself,
You walk right up to me with that confident, friendly smile,
Grab my hand and take me away to play.
You were my hero.
I will never forget the first day of high school
At the troublemaking age of 13
A building so big, so many strange faces.
Standing in a corner by my locker,
You walk right up to me with that confident, knowing smile,
Grab my hand as we begin to find our classes.
You were my lighthouse.
I will never forget the day when my boyfriend left me at that party
At the naive age of 15
A crowd so big, so many strange faces.
Laying in a corner heartbroken and beaten,
You walk up to me with that confident, caring smile,
Grab my hand, hold me in a loving hug and tell me the
Lying cheating bastard will never hurt me again.
You were my guardian angel.
I will never forget that day when you came to my dance audition
At the competitive age of 16
An audience so big, so many strange faces.
Walking to the corner of the stage, heart beating fast, hard to breathe,
You walk over to me with that confident, proud smile,
Grab my hand and tell me how great of a job I had done.
You were my good luck charm.
I will never forget the day when dad went to jail and mom stopped caring
At the hard age of 17
A family so big, so many strange faces.
Dieing in a corner, feeling abandoned and empty,
You walked over to me with that confident motherly smile,
Grabbed my hand, looked me in the eyes and told me that I am not alone,
There is so much to live for.
You were my savior.
I will never forget the day when I heard the gun go off
At the maturing age of 18
A world so big, so many strange faces.
Waiting on the corner so we can spend the day together,
You walk towards me with that confident, up to something smile,
I hear the shot and you’re down.
I run to your side, drop to my knees and cradle your head in my lap.
Your blood was all around me.
You grabbed my hand as tears begin to flow
"Please God don’t take her away from me
I need her here with me!"
You looked up at me with agony in your eyes.
"Smile as you remember all our times together.
You have been through so much and you are still an amazing person.
I love you, stay strong, I will always be here with you."
"Please God! I need you, don’t go please don’t go!"
"Promise not to cry."
Your eyes begin to close, your confident smile fades, your breathing stops.
I'm so sorry I can’t keep my promise, I can’t help but cry.
You were my best friend.
